Safety Matters

The California Construction & Industrial Materials Association (CalCIMA) named the winners of its 2017 Excellence in Safety Awards and Outstanding Safety Leadership Awards at CalCIMA's Education Conference which took place from Nov 5th – 8th at the Resort at Squaw Creek in Olympic Valley.
Panel members from the association's Safety & Health Committee selected the award winners.
 
These annual awards honor mines, plants and individuals for excellence and outstanding achievement in safety innovations, culture and leadership. They recognize the team effort from workers, supervisors, and management to allow for innovations, processes, and communication to improve workplace safety.
 
 

Safety Awards are presented to mines and plants in the cement, ready-mixed concrete, industrial mineral and aggregate in the following categories:
Large Aggregate Mine – CEMEX's Lytle Creek Quarry
Small Aggregate Mine – Vulcan Materials' Azusa Rock Quarry
Industrial Mineral Mine – Lhoist North America's Natividad Mine
Ready Mixed Concrete Plant – Central Concrete's San Francisco Plant
Outstanding Safety Leadership – Ameet Bodhankar, LHoist North America & John Davis, Catalina Pacific Concrete
Outstanding Safety Professional – Gregory “Buzz” Miles,Granite Construction Co.

CalCIMA is a trade association for aggregate, ready-mixed concrete, and industrial mineral producers in California. The members of CalCIMA provide local materials to build roads, bridges, hospitals and schools, and support hundreds of related industries throughout California. Membership includes over 500 production facilities.
