Project Manager - Mine & Environmental Planning
Responsible for the overall preparation of permit applications, plans, and reports for new and expanded mine facilities in compliance with SMARA. Assesses and technical reports, prepares written mine/reclamation plans and environmental reports, and interfaces directly with clients and agencies. Project Manager duties include supervising the work of others, managing contracts, subcontracts, and budgets, and performs other related duties.
Collects and assesses information for a variety of mining projects necessary for the preparation of mine/reclamation plans, permits and environmental reports; manages and reviews data collection and technical reports including some field work. Works with principals and other project managers and office staff to ensure that the client’s goals and objectives are being met in the plans, reports and permit preparation. Manages mine permitting projects including Mine Operation, Mine Reclamation Plans, Revegetation Plans; manages and may co-author  documents including Initial Studies, EIRs, and NEPA documents; oversees preparation of maps and graphics necessary for project reports and coordinates with the CAD designer for accurate completion. Prepares SMARA and Lead Agency permit application forms as required; and coordinates permitting process.  Strives to maintain profitability on all assigned projects; assists with other related projects and programs as needed; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geography, Planning, Environmental or a related field. A comprehensive understanding of SMARA, CEQA, and NEPA and general permitting.  A minimum of six years of related experience, at least one of which must have been as an Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in mine or urban planning and environmental assessments.
