Construction Permitting Coordinator
Compass Land Group is a small specialty firm providing permitting, environmental, and operational support to the mining, materials, and construction sectors. Compass is seeking a qualified and motivated associate that will provide permitting, environmental, and project management support for our public and private clients. Job Description
- Provide land use and regulatory permitting support, including application
preparation, environmental review, agency coordination, stakeholder outreach,
and public hearings.
- Provide environmental permitting and compliance support, including air quality
analysis and monitoring, water quality sampling, agency reporting, and site
inspections.
- Provide project coordination, project management, construction management and
field operational support for a variety of construction and reclamation projects.
- Prepare construction and reclamation project cost estimates.
- Prepare and support implementation of surface mine reclamation plans.
- Research rules and regulations relating to permitting and environmental
compliance.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference to degrees in engineering,
geology, construction management, or environmental science.
- 2+ years of experience in a construction, mining, permitting, or environmental
services is required.
- Excellent writing and analytical skills are essential. A short research assignment
and writing sample will be required as part of the interview process.
- A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and interest in subject matter is essential.
- Ability to research and summarize federal, state and local laws, policies and
procedures is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
- Basic knowledge of construction and mining equipment and processes is
preferred.
- Proficiency in performing basic volumetric and construction estimating
calculations, such as performing volume conversions and quantity estimates for
cut-and-fill activities, is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, and/or GIS is preferred.
- Working knowledge of CEQA, Clean Water Act, and SMARA is preferred.
